Hello. I’m D.K.B. “Donna” Condrey-Miller. This website is an element of my living practice.
Years ago I set out to change my life through horses. I thought becoming an equestrian would satisfy a restless desire for purpose and reinvention. But the horses delivered an unexpected message.
They didn’t conform to my ideals. Instead, they challenged my acceptance of the conventional horse-human relationship, built around their utility and human control. I knew I didn’t want to dominate; I wanted to relate.

My search for another way led me to the work of Alexander and Lydia Nevzorov and Nevzorov Haute École. Their approach to the horse-human relationship introduced possibilities I had not previously imagined. It also brought up questions for me that reached far beyond horses.
Through philosophical exploration and study, I eventually came to Advaita Vedanta, a traditional means of knowledge concerned with the nature of the self and freedom.
A Horse Leads Me to Water was born in 2018 from the realizations that dawned over those years.
Today, my practice encompasses art, writing, the horse-human relationship, and the application of my understanding of freedom in everyday life. The horse remains a key figure in my life, but my perspective encompasses the wider human experience.
