The true nature of the world is not obvious at first glance. We could say it is hidden in plain sight, but the hiding mechanism is so effective that we don’t even realize that it’s there, let alone that it can be removed so that we no longer see anything but true nature. Why does this matter?
Well, for many of us, if not most of us, at one time or another we have felt a sense of ongoing or sporadic dissatisfaction or unhappiness with our life experience. As a way to resolve that we imagine that something is wrong with us or that it is others and the social and physical environment that prevents our steady fulfillment. The human condition is the saga of us trying to figure it all out so that we may live harmoniously in society and in our person, without suffering and without imposing suffering on others.
Seeking the secret to happiness takes us down many paths: some as self-guided soul searching through books, deep thinking and experiences; some on the heels of leaders we hope will show us the way. Yet, without a key piece of understanding, these avenues can easily fail to take us to our goal. We might even spend years before we admit that our only success has been to repress our dissatisfaction rather than eliminate it. What else could we do? Is there a reliable means to the end of suffering?
In this blog I’ll be sharing my story of seeking and the reliable means I finally found that gave me a framework of principles that define the art of living in happiness.
